As lead instructor I have experience sailing the beautiful and challenging waters of Florida and the Caribbean for over 30 years.
My first experiences sailing was on Victoria 18's built locally in Debary, Florida by William McVay. Mistral windsurfers, Hobie 16's, McGregor 21's, 8' Optimist Prams, Sunfish, 40' Hunter Legend , Catalina 380, Persaon 30 and Mirage 5.5's, again built locally in Gainesville, Florida... a 52' Bertram, 36' Pacemaker sportfish and a number of smaller power boats round out my experiences with boats.
I am a member of US Sailing and a US Sailing Certified Instructor. I also hold Red Cross First Aid and CPR certificates as is required to remain a US Sailing Instructor. I have been teaching privately for over 20 years. I have been the lead instructor for the Halifax River Yacht Club's sailing camps and have volunteered my time to teach Adults at Sailing Center, Inc. My excitement for sailing has fulfilled my ongoing passion for being on the water and has also created an outlet for me to teach.
Our support team is made-up of family, friends and volunteers of like minded people who enjoy sailing, teaching and helping to make a difference in our communities. We believe that sailing will help build self esteem, strength, and character through life experiences on the water, on board our boats and in socializing with other sailors.
